Description
Mawile has always been one of those Pokémon where the correct response to “what the hell is behind her?” is probably just don’t worry about it. This Ukupalua sculpt turns Mawile into a full character piece, reimagining her in a traditional Japanese-inspired outfit while keeping the enormous black-and-yellow jaws that make the Steel/Fairy type instantly recognizable. She stands calmly with katana in hand while the twin-jawed hair forms loom over her shoulders, and a smaller Mawile joins her at the base for an extra dose of deceptively cute nightmare fuel. The grassy scenic base, flowing black hair, kimono-inspired yellow and burgundy clothing, sword, and oversized jaws give the composition a strong silhouette from basically every angle. Multiple head/face components and individually separated display elements also give the sculpt plenty of detail without turning the finished piece into visual clutter. It’s elegant, weird, slightly threatening, and very Mawile.
