Scale & Size Guide
Dungeon Master Minis specializes in professionally hand-painted collectible figures, statues, busts, and chibis offered in scale formats such as 1:4, 1:6, 1:7, 1:8, 1:9, 1:10, and 1:12.
Scale describes the approximate size of the model compared with the character’s intended full-size height. For example, a 6-foot-tall character at 1:6 scale would measure approximately 12 inches tall before accounting for the display base, pose, weapons, effects, or other accessories.
Common Figure Scales
Using a 6-foot / 72-inch character as an example:
- 1:4 Scale — approximately 18 inches tall
- 1:6 Scale — approximately 12 inches tall
- 1:7 Scale — approximately 10.3 inches tall
- 1:8 Scale — approximately 9 inches tall
- 1:9 Scale — approximately 8 inches tall
- 1:10 Scale — approximately 7.2 inches tall
- 1:12 Scale — approximately 6 inches tall
These measurements are general examples. Characters of different heights will naturally produce different-sized figures even when they are listed at the same scale.
Why Figures in the Same Scale Can Be Different Sizes
Scale does not necessarily equal the total height of the finished collectible. The final display dimensions can be affected by:
- The character’s actual height
- Standing, crouching, seated, or dynamic poses
- Display bases
- Weapons, wings, hair, and capes
- Environmental effects
- Raised arms or accessories
A 1:8 figure with a large scenic base or tall weapon may therefore require more display space than another 1:8 figure.
Busts
Busts generally feature the character’s head, shoulders, chest, and upper torso rather than the full body. Because only part of the character is represented, the finished height of a bust should not be compared directly with a full-body figure of the same scale.
Chibis
Chibi figures use intentionally exaggerated proportions, typically featuring oversized heads and smaller bodies. Because their proportions are stylized, traditional character-height calculations are not particularly useful for determining their finished size.
Check the Product Listing
Whenever dimensions are provided by the designer, the specific measurements are listed directly on the product page.
For display planning, shelving, or clearance concerns, use the individual product dimensions rather than relying only on the listed scale.
