About Dungeon Master Minis

Store History

After a very successful run on Etsy Marketplace, with over 2,000 product sales and 800+ 5-star reviews, we have decided to move the store to our own domain. You can visit the remnants of the store at DungeonMasterMinisUS on Etsy.

About the owner:

My love for RPGs never waned. I immersed myself in every D&D-related game that came out, from Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights to Planescape: Torment and RPGs like Diablo 1 & 2, along with countless others. These experiences kept my passion for role-playing games alive, blending my interests in gaming and technology into a lifelong hobby.

Why I started resin printing:

In the early 2010s, a friend invited me to join his Dungeons and Dragons game, and I quickly became engrossed in the world. I learned as much as I could and soon began Dungeon Mastering games for my friends. However, I hadn't invested in miniatures and relied on my friends' collections. We often used buttons and tokens as stand-ins for the minis we lacked, which hurt the game's immersion.

Seeking a cost-effective solution, I discovered 3D printing. I started with a Creality Ender 3 filament printer but was disappointed with the results and eventually sold it on Craigslist. Shortly afterward, I found resin printing and purchased my first Mars 1 printer. I began printing my own miniatures, excited to enhance my games. Unfortunately, the resin miniatures were too brittle, often losing limbs or weapons when stored together. Unlike filament prints, these resin minis weren't durable enough for gaming.

A year or two later, ABS-like resins were introduced, marking a significant improvement. These miniatures were still fragile but no longer broke as easily in storage. However, they still couldn't withstand drops from our countertop-height table, causing recurring breakage issues.

Advancements in resin technology led to the creation of flexible resins. Mixing these flexible resins with the stronger ABS-like resins produced miniatures that could truly withstand the test of time (and clumsy hands like mine). Now, I had durable, high-quality miniatures that enhanced the gaming experience without the constant worry of breakage.

The Shop (my garage and basement):

I decided to open the shop after my wife and I moved to Missouri from Las Vegas and she restarted her nursing degree, which she had pursued before we had our two beautiful kids. To subsidize the loss of her income, I took on the task of working and building my short-lived yet successful Etsy empire. My print shop, which operates out of our home, includes two filament printers, four resin printers, and a processing/paint area.
